Palliative Care
Our support around Palliative Care, which includes end of life care, is for people with a life limiting illness to relieve their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
Our team is highly skilled and trained to support the residents and their families because we understand that this can be a sensitive time. Which is why our caring and compassionate teams offer support to residents’ families and friends, providing advice or an opportunity to talk.
We focus on not only physical as well as mental and emotional needs. That requires not only managing clinical needs such as pain, sickness, tiredness or loss of appetite, but also looking at a person’s overall wellbeing including emotional, social and spiritual support.
We work with you and your loved one, as well as local health professionals and hospice teams, to ensure that every aspect of the care your loved one receives in their last weeks and days – from the way their room is arranged, to the pain relief they receive – is tailored to their needs and wishes. Palliative Care can be used at any stage during a terminal illness and alongside treatments, therapies and medicines that control symptoms.
We’re also passionate about supporting families at this difficult time. Where possible, we’ll enable you to stay with your loved one in their room and provide you with food and essentials so you can completely focus on them.
We are also working towards, accreditation with the 'Gold Standards Framework for End of Life Care' – the benchmark for high quality person-centred end-of-life care.
